The Life and Liberty Group, a pro-family advocacy group led by veteran South Dakota politician Gordon Howie, aims to shift the national conversation about abortion by focusing on the underlying causes and actually reducing the number of abortions, rather than engaging in pointless and endless debates. We also plan to urge grassroots church activism, believing that fundamental change in the culture is required to help families.
Mission and Vision
The Life and Liberty Group is an activism and educational organization dedicated to promoting a pro-family approach to the issue of abortion by encouraging churches and politicians to support pregnant women, fathers, and children.
“I’ve been out of the spotlight for a few years, but I felt called to get involved in public life again because I’ve seen the rancorous and pointless debate in the media circles and among the general public caused by weak politicians and church leaders that does nothing to help the lives of families and children. In my time in office and as an ordained minister, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of our cultural and political environment on families,” said Gordon Howie, who served two terms in the South Dakota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2009 and one term in the South Dakota Senate from 2009 to 2011, and ran for governor and U.S. Senate previously. “By engaging the Body of Christ and encouraging grassroots activism, we can create the fundamental changes needed to support pregnant women, fathers, and children. Defeating Constitutional Amendment G is a crucial step in this process. It’s time to focus on what truly matters and help families thrive.”

What is South Dakota Amendment G?
South Dakota Amendment G is a proposed constitutional amendment that will appear on the ballot on November 5, 2024. If passed, the amendment would establish a right to abortion in the Constitution of South Dakota up until approximately the second trimester of pregnancy.
